Have you ever wondered do you need a personal trainer? If answer is no, then may be you don't need one but if you are new to fitness or any of the reasons below refer to you, you might need some extra help.
#1
You don't know where to start from.
Have you used Google lately? I bet you did. There are 120,000,000 results for the search term "lose weight". The thing is that you are just overwhelmed with all that kind of information but..., you need a starting point. Instead of trying a thousand different things or suggestions you rather stick to one that works. Hiring a personal trainer is a very good starting point.
#2
You don't have results.
Losing weight, getting stronger or enhancing sport performance – all of these are your results from working out in the gym. To train on your own and to have a little or even worst, no results is frustrating. Working out with a personal trainer can dramatically improve your results and get you closer to your goal.
#3
You need a customized training plan.
Everyone is unique and so are you with your specific needs and goals. You might have a medical condition or an injury and that's why your training program should be carefully designed. Even if you take part in a small group workout or a boot camp your training plan should have some sort of individualization. A personal trainer can design and customize your individual training program.
#4
You need the extra push.
Holding you accountable for doing your part of the deal such as following your nutritional plan or doing your home workouts is not such a bad thing. Let's face it, some people are just not good with following routines. Phone calls, text messaging, emails, all are good trainer's tools to keep you on the right track. A good trainer should be able to push you to your limits where you can get a good, challenging and effective workout without throwing up.
#5
Show me how.
Tell, show, do. This is a major principle in the personal training. You actually don't know how to train, what to do or how much to rest. That's why you hire a personal trainer, right? Your trainer should first tell you what to do, then show you how to do it with the correct exercise technique and form and then make you do it. After a few months of training with a personal trainer you actually should be able to work out on your own and that's a trainer's job – to teach you how to train properly based on your goals and needs.
#6
You need some variety in your workouts.
Doing the same routine for a long period of time is not only a little boring but may also slow down your progress. You don't have to change your workout every single time but every four to six weeks you can discuss with your trainer how to modify your program and make it even more productive.
#7
You don't know the correct exercise form.
Your fitness coach should educate you about using the correct exercise technique and form. This will not only keep you injure free but will also optimize your progress and results.
#8
You eat really badly.
Your fitness coach should be able to help you with your nutrition and your eating habits. Remember this. You can't outperform a bad diet. Period. No matter how hard you train without a proper nutrition you won't have the results you are looking for.
#9
You need to back up.
Some people do over train and this is another good reason when a knowledgeable trainer should deload your workouts and/or training intensity. You can't push it to the limits every single time. May be you need some extra sleep or more good food. Your personal trainer should notice those symptoms and help you fix them.
#10
You need a strong training partner.
Until you are not completely convinced that your fitness coach is strong enough to help you with your training weights, you rather don't put too much weight onto the bar.
